    3-3/4 glasses sugar
    1-1/2 glasses light maize syrup
    1 cup water
    2 to 3 falls red meals shading or color of your choice
    1/4 tsp. melon flavor or flavor of your choice
    1/2 cup confectioners' sugar


    Butter two 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. pans; set aside. In a large heavy pot, merge the glucose, maize syrup, the water and meals shading. Prepare and mix over method warm until glucose is demolished. Bring to a steam. Prepare, without mixing, until a sweets heat range gauge flows 300° (hard-crack stage).
    Eliminate from the heat; mix in flavor. Instantly add into prepared pans; cool. Dirt with confectioners' sugar; break into pieces. Store in air-tight bins. Yield: 2 pounds.
