Alien Popcorn Heads Recipe
These aliens will be a hit at your next Halloween celebration party or for a child's wedding concept celebration. They're a creepy and delightful cure.--Taste of Home Test Kitchen


    6 black licorice twists
    4 quarts jumped popcorn
    2 tsp water
    1 tsp. cooking soda
    1/2 tsp. vanilla flavor extract
    5 falls natural meals coloring
    1 cup mild maize syrup
    1/4 cup butter, cubed
    2 glasses sugar
    1 cup confectioners' sugar
    1 tbsp water
    1 tsp. mild maize syrup
    1 drop natural meals coloring


    Cut licorice into forms to look like the sight, nose and lips for 12 peculiar heads; set aside. Position snacks in a large oiled bowl; set aside. In a normal size dish, merge the the water, everyday, vanilla flavor and natural meals coloring; set aside.
    In a heavy pot, merge maize syrup and butter; prepare over medium warm until butter is dissolved. Add sugar; prepare and mix until glucose is demolished and combination comes to a steam. Cook without mixing until a sweets temperature gauge flows 235° (soft-ball stage), about 2 moments.
    Remove from the warm. Stir in arranged vanilla flavor combination (mixture will foam). Immediately add over snacks, mixing to coat equally. Awesome for about 5 moments, mixing several times. When cool enough to handle, strongly shape with buttered hands into 4-in. long teardrop shapes; placed on wax paper.
    For frosting, merge the confectioners' glucose, the water, maize syrup and meals shading until smooth. Position frosting in a resealable nasty bag; cut a little hole in a corner of bag. Pipe frosting onto snacks leads to connect peculiar sight, nose and mouth. Let stand until dry; cover in nasty cover. Yield: 1 dozen.

Editor's Note: We recommend that you analyze your sweets temperature gauge before each use by bringing the water to a boil; the temperature gauge should read 212°. Adjust your formula temperature up or down based on your analyze.
